About

The Movie Ontology project is an initiative with the aim of standardizing the representation of movies and movie attributes across databases and the Web. This project provides a controlled vocabulary of semantic concepts and relations for describing the whole movie domain. That includes concepts like the movie itself, different roles such as among other things actors and directors, genres, scenes, color information. In addition, the movie ontology MO provides properties to describe the relations between concepts and instances. But still, this ontology need further investigation in collecting, filtering and normalizing concepts, properties, and instances.

The focus of MO is not to reproduce movie instances from the IMDb and others, but provide the needed ontology to describe them applying Semantic Web technology to enable the semantic interpretation of movies for human and software agents.
